How to love your jewellery

How to love your jewellery

Buying jewellery is just the first step to self-care.
In order to wear then for years to come, taking proper care of your pieces is the best way to make sure they keep their shine for as long as possible.

Residue naturally builds up on the surface and in the nooks and crannies of your jewellery, dulling its shine. Keeping your pieces clean helps to avoid this: we highly encourage owners of Karine Parras items to bring your jewellery in for maintenance at least once a year. With our expert care, your pieces will stay as shiny as the day they were made.

All Karine Parras jewellery comes with a two-year warranty.

Cleaning your jewellery

Skin naturally produces oils, an important process that keeps our skin healthy –
but it can accelerate the build-up of residue on your jewellery.

To best avoid the accumulation of oils on your pieces, refrain from applying lotion while wearing items likeΒ ringsΒ orΒ necklaces. In fact, we recommend removing your rings whenever you wash your hands, as soap can get into the crevices of your jewellery and eventually cause it to fade and lose its shine.

DiamondsΒ truly are a girl’s best friend: not only are they beautiful, but they’re simple and straightforward to clean. When they start losing their shine, simply wash them gently with a toothbrush and some dish soap.

PearlsΒ are born in water, and water remains the best way to look after them. When they start to become a little faded, lightly cleanse them with water and dry them off with a natural wool towel. Additionally, to help your pearls last longer, it’s important to keep them away from anything containing alcohol, such as perfume.Β

Removing your jewellery

Accidents happen, and that’s why it’s best to always remove your pieces over a soft surface, such as a carpet, bed, or sofa. This way, if you do happen to drop them, they’ll have a soft landing. On the other hand, places with hard surfaces such as tiles, ceramic, or marble, are likely to scratch or damage your jewellery.

We recommend that you remove your earrings before going to sleep. We all move about as we dream, which puts strain and pressure on the clasps of your jewellery, increasing their chances of wearing out faster.

Our motto is: your jewellery should be the last thing you put on before leaving the house, and the first thing you take off when you come home.Β

On the road

There’s no reason your favourite jewellery can’t travel the world with you.

When you’re on the road, store your pieces individually, in separate bags. This is especially important for items with diamonds, which can easily scratch your other beloved jewellery.

The original box your jewellery came in is the perfect travel container, but our velvet bags will also protect your pieces and keep them safe while you travel.
